Photo A Day 2010 – 04/29/2010

Today was senior portrait day. I think it went well though the weather did NOT cooperate…cloudy…blah. But I got some nice shots so I think he will like them.

Anyway, today I also got the 2 rolls I shot yesterday developed. That’s the nice thing about chromogenic film for black and white. Take it to Walgreens and 1 hour later it’s done! Unlike true B&W that’ll have to be taken to a lab.

These are all off the drugstore CD too. Damn good quality lens, this Leica 50mm f/2.8. I loooove this lens.

Jane turned out great. This has no editing done and this is off of the drug store CD. The eyes are awesome!

This has a tint to it and this is due to using chromogenic film. This means it’s B&W but it’s processed like a regular color film so there’s a tint. Which is almost like some of the post processing I used to do.

Kuma-chan saying good bye from the back of Michele’s backpack. This was converted to pure B&W by me. The princess backpack will go to her niece :)

One of the shots I got from the walk at Bradly Park yesterday. I really like the blur even at f/2.8 with the Leica 50mm. Sexy…

Vines going up the tree. I have a color version of this as well that I may post later. I really like this shot…it’s all about the texture in this one.

The nice thing about these rangefinders? They’re quiet and fast. This, to me, is how every parent feels after a long week at Orlando and specifically Disney. Hang in there dad…hang in there…

Went out shooting with Heidi at Bradley Park today. She wanted to get some tips on shooting. It was a really nice day for a lazy stroll around the lakes there :)

Here’s an HDR shot since she was nice enough to stay relatively still! Of course she didn’t know I was doing this… Almost looks like fall huh? But it’s just early spring in Cleveland!

With a giant 70-200mm lens, you can’t help but look cool!

The rest of these are actually shot by Heidi and I did some tiny tiny bit ‘o editing. She did a damn good job for never using a DSLR before!

Here’s Jane looking as cute as usual!

Sarah checking out my new Voigtlander rangefinder camera. Totally old school. Looking cool :)

Heidi caught me lumbering out from behind the tree after trying to take some shots of the vines. Those photos will probably end up being a photo of the day in a few days.

Oh yeah. Check out the double camera action. I’m such a dork…

You know…I can’t believe I never took a photo of this. My coworker made this in a shoe box. It’s a peek inside a Peep Show. Get it? PEEP show? Yeah. I knew those peeps were dirty… :)

Another B&W from vacation. This is the safari truck at Animal Kingdom. Loooove the contrast of the Ilford XP2 film :)

Today was travel day and last day of vacation. Since I started the vacation with a similar photo of the new camera, I figure I’d finish it with one too. So here’s a shot from the Detroit Airport.

And a sunset in the gigantic parking lot of Park Place.

I didn’t post these from a few days ago. Michele squeezing some fresh Oranges from the Showcase of Citrus. Mmmm.

Michele and Kuma-chan at the Magic Kingdom!

These are all from the film camera from yesterday. I managed to catch the balloon :)

The obligatory Mickey and Minnie shot.

Kuma-chan hanging out with Minnie.

Michele trying to figure out where the hell we are at Animal Kingdom.

And a very happy looking Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom.

This pretty much sums up today. This and swimming and Michele and I taking a walk where we THOUGHT we could do a big loop back to the house in the hot FL sun but nooooo… Anyway. Yeah. This sums up today.

My film wasn’t messed up from the Xray! Yay! So here’s a few from the past few days that I just got developed. These are straight out of the camera, no post processing. Here’s Kuma-chan enjoying the nice sunny beach :)

Fence from the orange grove.

The gang with Greg spitting out an orange seed. I love the blur in the background. It’s very distinct with that slight curve in the blurring in the background. Mmmmm…

We played cards. I lost. Dammit…

Kuma-chan wanted to play too… But since he couldn’t he settled for a drink.

The main building at Reunion where our house is.

The pool was foggy and misty this morning. Granted it was like 8am already but still it was neat.

Went to Cocoa Beach today. I got some sun. My nose might peel. Here’s the mascot for the trip, named “Kuma” now (bear in Japanese) hanging out at the beach. :)

There was a mid day moon too. The polarizer helped get the shot.

:D

We went to the Showcase of Citrus (say that in a Monster Truck “Sunday Sunday SUNDAY” voice for maximum effect) to pick…well…citrus. Well…the other 3 picked citrus while I did what many Japanese tourists do… So here’s HDR photo number 1 :)

Here’s the bear (name still yet to be decided…) picking a nice yummy orange (or a tangerine…..yeah…) :)

My first roll of B&W film! The others might have gotten ruined from the Xray…but these came out nice. Michele trying to play her Scrabble move while I kept taking her pic. The new camera is working out awesome :)

Michele #2. Michele amongst the orange trees. Michele not knowing that I took a photo of the back of her head…

Michele #3. Michele drinking water at a Chinese restaurant. Yes. Photos at the Chinese restaurant. I have no shame. But it was to test the camera!! I swear!

HDR photo from…*ahem*…SHOWCASE OF CITRUS!!!

The Spanish moss looked really really cool.

HDR photo #3. More subtle this time. Michele liked the solitary tree. Michele wanted it in the middle… I forced my photo creativity on her idea. Michele does not like tree off to the side…
