Classic Car Show 2009

So, as I mentioned in my photo of the day post, I went to the Classic Car Show with my sister and Dennis along with their dog Forest.

Since everyone takes photos of the cars and and stuff, I decided to forget trying to get the full body of the car in the frame and such and just focus on the details. Especially the nice chrome name plates and hood ornaments and stuff like that. The stuff that usually disappears when a full car shot is taken. Hope you like them. Happy 4th of July to everyone in the US :)

Today I went to a classic car show at a nearby shopping center. It was a nice day. Not too hot. Not too chilly. Lots of clouds in the sky though but it was ok.

So I decided to give my new R-strap a try. I got this new camera strap that’s over the shoulder. It actually attaches to the tripod mount and the camera ends up hanging upside down next to my right hip facing backwards. Surprisingly though, it worked very well. I think it would have twisted too much if I had a lighter lens but with my 24-70, it was pretty heavy and worked well.

Anyway, here are the photos of the day. More shots from the show will go up in a separate post :)

Since it’s a classic car show, I wanted to go for the 1970s over exposed slightly washed out home photo on 35mm film look :)

For this I liked the reflection on the chrome. Most of the time chrome is a pain because it’s like shooting into a ridiculously bright mirror. But this time it worked well!

And finally, my sister’s husband Dennis walking their dog Forest (who has been a frequent model of mine) back to my townhouse after the car show. Went for the gritty look :)
