Today I finally got around to installing the EOS software on my laptop so I can shoot tethered :)

It’s COOL!! Every shot, in about 5 to 10 seconds, will show up on my laptop in Lightroom 2 full screen so I can see in detail if I got the shot or not. It’s great :)

So I took some neat shots and put them together! You can click for a bigger version.

Here’s a “behind the scenes” with the tethered laptop.

So. Today, I decided to get a bit creative.

…ok ok…maybe not creative. More of a rip off of every “refreshing” flavor infused water commercial and it was also an offshoot of my water drop photos from earlier this month and a photo I saw on a photography web site. But whatever. It was fun to do.

I took 150+ photos and this was the single best shot. I gotta tell you…timing was a PAIN.

Refreshing? Maybe? :)

I hate the standard mouse. Never ever liked it… And since around my junior year in college, I started to use a trackball. My first trackball was the Kensington Orbit. It was a great trackball. All mechanical like all the old mouse back then but it was fast, ergonomic, and efficient. But soon, the optical trackballs started to come out and, probably around 2002 or so, I switched over to the Logitech Trackman.

Back then, and still now, the rage in trackballs are the ones where the ball is on your thumb. But I never liked that. My thumb got tired. It’s just not steady enough. But like the old Kensignton Orbit, the Trackman had the ball up top and you used your forefinger and middle finger to move it. Your thumb hits the left mouse button and your ring ringer hits the right mouse button and to scroll you just shift your forefinger over a tiny bit to the left. It’s perfect.

BUT, ever since I updated my Vista with new MS service packs, it’s started to act weird. Once in a while it’ll lose connection (it’s wireless) and it was just getting to be a hassle… Finaly I got fed up and today I went to Best Buy to buy a new trackman. …which they didn’t have. They only had the one for the thumb… But I was so fed up that I picked it up.

My favorite Trackman is in the background.

I tried. I tried to get used to it. But I just couldn’t… When I tried to edit photos with the new mouse I just couldn’t do it… So I’m back to my old Trackman. Did some search online, reinstalled the drivers, updated the software, we’ll see… So far so good… I hope it lasts. I’ll just sell the other one once I know my old reliable Trackman is back for sure!

…yes…this entire post was about my mouse. It’s important!! I use the same Trackman at the office too!

…I still can’t get used to the fact that certain things “Japanese” are cool with kids… 10 years ago I wouldn’t have believed that I would see a post card on the board at Five Guys (great burgers…love them!) with a drawing of an obvious “shojo” style anime girl that could have been drawn by any little girl in Japan and the word “Kawaii” next to it… It’s just odd to me still…

Tokyo Dreaming

I took this back at the end of February but never got around to doing wha I wanted to do with it and post it.

It was a quick snapshot in the Yokosuka Line out of Tokyo. I hope you like it! You can click on it for a bigger (and better) version :)

My poor neglected controllers… PSP, DS Lite, Wii, XBox 360, PS3, myriad of Wii controllers…all collecting dust. I never play the Wii unless I have people over and I’ve found other things (amazingly) to occupy my mind during my long long flights… I should have more people over… My Wii is lonely… Well…when I’m home that is…which is rare… (;_;)

Matsushima

I finally got around to polishing up and posting these photos from my trip to Matsushima. Now that I think about it it was only a week ago…just last Sunday. Though it FEELS like it was more than a month ago… I guess that’s what happens when you fly back and forth like I do.

For some brief info: http://wikitravel.org/en/Matsushima

It’s not one of the major sites since it’s in Miyagi prefecture which is in northern Japan (about 1.5 hours on a fast bullet train) but it’s still a nice place to go.

There’s about 20 photos. Some in color. Some in B&W. Here are 2 and click on the link below for the rest! Oh, and as usual for these types of posts, you can click on the photo for a bigger version too.

Project (by) 8pm – 07/26/2009

Lazy day today.

My single thing I was planning on doing today was to go out and buy socks.

Did I do it?

No.

I slept in (REALLY slept in) and then putzed around…I haven’t even showered. Lovely I know. I needed this I think. Though it really was a beautiful day outside.

So, today’s photo is of something that is working far far far harder than me and never (as far as I know) asks for a day off or complains or be lazy. The ever busy bumble bee.

I salute your single minded work ethic…

Facebook Ad Absurdity

So…this has been making me chuckle for a while now… Yes. It’s a rare non-”photo of the day” post.

I realize Facebook needs to make money somehow. A free social networking site that is embraced by millions including corporations and organizations, all for absolutely free. I can’t imagine things will stay this way forever but…well…at least for now we can all enjoy this.

So to make money they resort to ads. And the ads are somewhat tailored to the user based on the information given. I, in my profile, has “single” listed in relationship status as opposed to just leaving it blank and not displayed. But due to this, I get a lot of online dating and matchmaking sites. Which is just fine since I’ve learned to ignore the strip of ads long the right side of the page anyway. But for the past few months a set of ads have been catching my eye.

Now…the first one is fine. Actualy she’s kind of my type. I like brunettes and I like glasses. But…is she the image you get of a “True Christian”? Well, not that I expect victorian dress and ultra conservative demeanor but…at the same time, a girl looking coyly at the camera and posting herself on the internet wouldn’t be an image either…

But the second one is great. I’m not really LOOKING for Christians. Hell…I’m not affiliated with any religion and if asked would probably say I’m agnostic if not an athiest (though I do make an offering and pray at Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples in Japan…you know…just in case) and I lead a pretty secular life. But…if a Christian girl is going to look like her? Um. Yes please? :) Sure I like Christians :) Bring ‘em on!

…so wrong…

I want to know what the ad looks like for the same site for women… Is it some buff dude with a 6 pack flexing for the camera going “Looking for a good Christian boy?”??

I’m waiting for the next set of ads to come along.

It can’t get much worse right?

I hope?
