Tokyo Ghosts – 06/03/2009

More from tonight.

As usual, these you can click on for a bigger view.

First, this is more of a long exposure without any people. It’s right outside of Shinagawa Station with the station on the left and a department store on the right.

This next one is utterly forgettable…except for one thing. The “TGI Fridays” on the right. I have never eaten there. And I hope that I never ever do… Ever…

This is the crosswalk looking towards Shinagawa Station. The photo of the flowers in the previous post is actually right behind the camera in this shot.

Finally, I really like this shot. It shows the chaos that happens when a train gets to the station. Especially a commuter loop like the Yamanote Line. This is right after rush hour at around 7:40-ish at night. It’s still pretty damn crowded actually but not as bad as it could be…and I avoid those times…

Ramen and Flowers…

Some photos taken while I went out grab some dinner at a ramen shop in Shinagawa.

While eating, I saw this sign clipped onto the back of the board displaying the specials.

It states that the restaurant is closing because they ran out of soup. You can’t have ramen without the soup. This happening is every ramen shop’s dream. I hope this place gets to use this sign once in a while. It’s hard to make a hearty soup out of bonito (a type of tuna) stock but man…their soup is gooooood.

Here’s the row of ramen shops I go to when I get a chance and get a craving for good ramen.

It contains some of the best ramen in Tokyo but it’s kept very very casual and no frills. It’s great.

Of course, if we’re talking about no frills, this is about as no frills as it can get.

A portable ramen stand outside of the station. The jugs that the guy is carrying that looks like it should be holding gasoline is actually the soup. I never ate here…maybe I will one of these days.

Meanwhile, while I was taking photos for today’s “Tokyo Ghost” posts (seen above), I saw these pretty flowers so I took a photo.

Pretty huh? But the best of all, these were flowering in the most unlikely of places…

In front of a McDonalds! Ha.

Project (by) 8pm – 06/03/2009

A pretty mundane photo for the photo of the day. But there are more post from today to make up for it.

This here is my most favorite chocolate in Japan. Meiji Almond Chocolate. Mmmm.

The chocolate is not too sweet. The almonds are nicely roasted. It takes a lot of will power to not just eat the entire box all at once.

You can get this in the US at most asian food markets. Try it! You won’t be disappointed :)
