Project (by) 8pm – 06/29/2009

There is some kind of mini carnival being setup in a shopping center right by work. The typical rides and such and shady looking people chain smoking and setting stuff up.

…these things always looked a bit…scary. But also a bit nostalgic. …though as an adult, looking at these now…I do NOT want to ride these things…

But I decided to go for my favorite old-timey sepia look.

The last two I did some very high contrast and exposure to get the look. I kinda like it :)

…I was even more lazy today.

I’m actualy doing laundry though so I’m not totally a waste of a life… But yeah. I was pretty close. So, once again, it’s shots of flowers for today. I promise to have more meaningful photos once I actually do things that are more…well…meaningful…

Anyway, the lilies outside my front door that my neighbor planted finally bloomed :)

I forgot to toss in the pears I got too. But some great roasted garlic linguini pasts from Ohio City Pasta. Falafel from Mahala’s. Bread from Christopher’s. Pretzels from Vera’s. Cheese from Meister Foods. Spanish rice and tamales. Cold cuts. Mmmm….

Project (by) 8pm – 06/26/2009

Late night last night so I’m posting this a day late before I head out to the market.

Cookout at my friend F’s house. She moved in last October or so and now her backyard was in full bloom :)

(all of these are linked to a bigger pic – except the meat one…)

First though, a shot of the bush outside my backyard…

And now for F’s flowers :)

Cool lawn ornament that glows at night.

Mmmm…summer time cook out…mmmm… (reminds me that I need to finally get a damn grill this year…)

Nasty storm today. Lost electricity for a good 3 or so hours and it was pretty intense to the point where I sat in my car in my driveway for a good 10 minutes rather than try to run to my front door…

But once the storm blew by and electricity came back on I went out to put the car in the garage and looked up at the sky. It was beautiful!!

No photo can do it justice but…yeah…the layers were amazing.

Sarah and her New Horse

So Sarah got a new horse. Well…her family is leasing the horse with another family. More affordable that way. But still, a new horse none the less! It’s an Arabian. That’s where my horse knowledge ends… And I can’t remember the name… Ooops…

Anyway, got some photos of her at the farm :)

Here she is trotting along.

And some action shots. I like the tail curl on the first one :)

Here she is exhausted after the lesson and staring off into space trying to cool down.

A cool shot of her boots (same as the photo of the day from yesterday)

And her chilling out afterwards :) (ok ok…that’s my glass of wine she was carrying for me since I had to go down some rocks to get some shots)

:)

More Jane!

Just a few more of Jane :)

For this first shot, I was not asking her to pose! She was rolling around on the driveway asking her mom for a popsicle. :)

This was from yesterday’s photo of the day.

Peeking out while trying to climb onto her tricycle.

And I think most girls has a photo of themselves doing this at some point when they were a kid :)

Project (by) 8pm – 06/24/2009

Not much today… Did some work on the computer. Watched a DVD. Was doing maintenance of all my photos (moved them to a new 1TB external drive). Getting depressed by reading work e-mail and knowing that I am going to have a long long day tomorrow…

In anycase, here’s the photo for today.

It’s a simple little external eSATA card. It’s tiny. 1 chip. A few circuits. But this thing allows my external drive to transfer files at well over 40MB/s… And here I still remember those giant monster sized cards that could barely fit into a computer case (and sometimes didn’t…) that you had to use just to play some pretty pathetic MIDI music…

Yes. I feel old…

Project (by) 8pm – 06/23/2009

Went to Blue Ridge Farm today again to see Sarah’s new horse that she is leasing (sharing a lease with another family). I can’t remember the horse’s name but it’s an Arabian and very pretty.

But that meant I shot juuust about 200+ photos at the farm and another well over 200 shots of Jane, her 2 year old sister and my patient model…and totally about 12 gigs it’s taking a bit longer than expected to not just copy onto my drive but also catalog it and create previews for it in Lightroom…

So. No horse photo for today but still 2 photos I am proud to call my photos for today :)

First, here is a nice sepia toned shot of Sarah’s riding boots. With these boots on and the riding pants, you can’t help but look pretty cool :)

…I really like how it turned out…

And switching gears entirely, here is her little sister Jane. One of the best part of having a 2 year old be your photo subject? They don’t care if you slap on a wide angle lens and then get really really close to their face and tell them to make a funny face. Not only will they gladly do it but when you show them the results they just laugh it off :)

Always a cutie!!
