More smoking signs
A big 3 for 1 sign in Shibuya station by the Yamanote line.
Once again, it’s deep in a slightly funny (though I just can’t put a finger on why) way.
Here are te 3 in detail.
The last one is true. You do see people with cel phones around their necks all the time and the key around the neck is common with kids. I have NEVER seen the portable ashtray around the neck though… I mean…it’s made to keep the ash in and block the smell and all but…ew… But as for the portable ash tray, it IS quite common. You see people carrying it often and you also see them empty them out in the public ash trays in the smoking areas. You can get the in the US too but you just don’t see it as often.

….on a totally different note…on TV, they are doing a show that shows a bunch of interesting things from around the world. They are currently covering a beauty contest for “newhalfs” or basically people who have had sex change operations going from a man to a woman. Thailand has the most at 5000 per year doing the operation, US with about 1000 and Germany with about 3000.
But that’s not what’s amazing. They showed a shot of the beauty contest and the…uh…women were unbelievably beautiful. Most were Asian but…I mean…WOW. I know deep down in the back of my mind, they are guys but…still…if you didn’t tell me I wouldn’t kick most of them out of bed for eating crackers…
