Distractions distractions.

Too many to count and they are all working against me in terms of getting those Japanese picture updates done. On top of it all, starting from Tuesday of next week I have visitors from our partners in Japan over so the entire week at work is going to be a wash…and then I leave for Japan for 2 weeks on Saturday. Yow.

But anyway, as the subject of this post probably told you right off the bat, I got myself a Wii!! Wooo!! A friend of a friend works at Nintendo and…well…they were nice :) So I got myself a Wii and a few games. It’s a lot of fun!! Wii Sports is a nice diversion, Super Swing Golf really does make you swing the Wii-mote like a golf club to get a good hit, and Warioware is a fun quirky time waster. I have yet to play Zelda. That will be for tomorrow. Using the Wii-mote like a sword and the nunchuck controller like a shield should be…interesting. It’ll be the first Zelda game I have played since the original on the NES (I know I know…but I’m just not that “into” Zelda…). I’ve heard the fishing minigame is fun too so I’ll be looking forward to that.

I don’t know how long the novelty will last…the whole Wii-mote thing is interesting and it really does work great but…well…we’ll see. I thought the same thing about the Nintendo DS with the touch screen but that turned out to be a fantastic addition to handheld gaming. It’ll all depend on the creativity of the game companies I think. There will be a few misses but I’m hoping more hits :)

So now I have a 42″ widescreen plasma TV, a Playstaton 3 that will also work as a Blu Ray DVD player, and now a Wii. All I’m missing is the X-box 360…though that hasn’t really gotten my attention just yet. We’ll see. Just haven’t seen more than a game or two that has gotten my attention. The PS3 is the same way but with my Netflix account, I can rent Blu-ray movies so we’ll see how good it looks. I just rented Crank in Blu-ray and it just came today so we’ll see if the next-gen thing is TRULY next-gen :)

Though with a normal DVD I have to use the “zoom” feature so I can watch it on my wide screen TV without distortion and that actually degrades the picture a bit. I’m hoping Blu-ray will make it look like movies I watch on my HD cable channels. In true wide screen.

Anyway, so yeah…too much distractions. Even today a bunch of us gathered at K’s place for some sukiyaki (think Japanese hot pot) which was really good and then we played some Wii sports (lost to my sister in boxing…grrrr….) and Warioware got pretty hectic. The Wii is great for parties. For me, well…I don’t really have anyone come over to my place (it’s a mess…I’m not kidding…and I’m never really home much anyway) but the single player stuff is just as fun and it’s pretty portable so I can always tote it around I suppose.

But anyway, yeah…so no updates yet. I will try though. Maybe tomorrow? Though I’ll be going out for the superbowl so we’ll see….

Should go to bed now. Damn telemarketers woke me up this morning…dammit….

Oh yeah….it’s really really cold out by the way. And windy too. Just wanted to point that out. Really really cold…….dammit…..
