The name of the dish is “ebi no kashira age” (age is pronounced “a-ge”). Ebi is Japanese for shrimp. Age is Japanese for deep fried. Kashira, you may have guessed by now, is another way of saying “head”. Yup. Deep fried shrimp heads. And it’s GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. Goes great with beer.
Screw popcorn shrimp or little KFC popcorn chicken (they are good though…I will admit), this is a true snack. It’s crispy, crunchy, with a good flavor. Mmmmmmmmm.
…though I must admit…I did have a leg get stuck in my throat once….oops. But still, I recommend this highly to ANYONE. Trust me…you’ll LOVE it.
