It's a Maid-filled Life!

Yes...once again...it just can't be a trip to Japan without some meantion of the maids and other celeb wannabes in our favorite freakshow of a town....no not Harajuku...Akihabara. This time I even have a movie. And it's frightening. A bit big but might be worth it from a "holy crap" standpoint....

Anyway, on to the fun! Actually, there's not that many pictures this time since it was looking like rain the entire time. 2 Sundays in a row that was raining or about to rain in Akihabara. What is a maid/cosplay/moe girl to do??? Sunday is where they make their money and livelihood? Ah well.

Anyway, I get off the train and the first thing I run into is a HUUUGE crowd of people outside of a store called Gamers. Seems they had 3 of the most popular maid girls from maid cafes in Akihabara and were interviewing them. It's like they're celebrities or something... And actually in this small little world inside of Tokyo, I suppose they are.

You can see that each has a slightly different outfit. They are all unique and each store has their own style.

Oh, and the sign behind them is for a new PC game called True Tears. The tagline states "The true tears that she sheds". Apparently (and no...this is NOT a hentai game...), the synopses for the game as described in the video game magazine Weekly Famitsu is, "You are a student in his final year in school with 6 months left and are living the school life. School life has fun stuff like the bunkasai (a culture fair...the whole school gets together to do displays and shows and such) but because of graduation around the corner, there are also many students with worries and stress. The player will meet girls with such problems and will help them in overcoming them."

..yes...that's the plot. There are 5 girls, each cute in an anime way and with different personalities (the tomboy, the shy one, the spunky one, the artsy one, the brainy one...think Charlie's Angels but underage...) and you have to create a schedule to help them out with their problems and figure out how to solve all their problems by the end of the year. You're rewarded with cute shots of them happy or pouting or crying (...cute?? I guess..in a way...) and such. Yeah...this will never work in the US huh? Big seller here though!

Aaaaaaaaaaanyway, on to the main strip, not too many of them out this time because of the weather. When I say not too many, it means there's probably an assload of them out there by most standards but...for Akihabara standards it's not too many. Of course, you find girls working the camera like these two who were handing out flyers as models/cosplayers and such.

You also find girls like these two who are nothing like maids but are working the streets handing out flyers for their live show. They are singer wannabes and they will actually be performin indoors as opposed to out in the street. Who knows? In another year or two I may see them on TV or something as the next big pop duet after Puffy Ami Yumi :)

But now for the grand finale.... My ears are still in pain from this... I was about to leave after realizing that I shouldn't drop any more money here when I heard a commotion before seeing anything. It seemed like "singing".....but...at the same time it was so bad I thought it was a joke.... But then I saw the crowd and all these guys bopping along and cameras everywhere and I realized that it's not fake nor is it a joke...it's for real... A 4 maid singing group.

It was.....it was wrong....

And frightening...

Yet, as a dedicated self made reporter for all of you readers, I waded into the crowd to take 2 quick pictures from 2 different angles.

Shot 1...

And awwww....they're reaching out to the audience!

....scary... And yes, I even took a 30 second video. It's 3MB in size

But anyhoo, here is the movie. If you ever wanted to know what the background music in hell was like...well....crank this shit up!!!! *ahem* anyway, this concludes my Akihabara report for this trip. (^_^)
